Sixteen European teams will vie for the four remaining World Cup spots in two-stage, single-leg playoffs in March, Polish broadcaster Sport TVP reported.
They include 12 runner-up teams from the qualifying groups, Poland among them, and a further four sides which performed well in the Nations League.
At the ceremony in Zurich, these 16 teams were divided into four paths of four.
Poland to play Albania
Poland were drawn in path B and will play at home to Albania in a playoff semifinal on March 26.
If they win, they will face either Ukraine or Sweden in a playoff final away from home on March 31.
Sweden and Ukraine have been drawn to play in path B's other semifinal.
Elsewhere, soccer powerhouse Italy will take on Northern Ireland in path A, while Turkey and Romania are on collision course in path C.
Poland have moved up two spots to No. 31 in the latest world football rankings, which were released on Wednesday.
The 2026 World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It will feature a total of 48 teams, 16 more than in Qatar 2022.
Poland reached the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar before being eliminated by eventual runners-up France.
In 2018, the Polish team suffered an early exit from the global tournament in Russia.

Path A: Italy vs. Northern Ireland, Wales vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina
Path B: Ukraine vs. Sweden, Poland vs. Albania
Path C: Turkey vs. Romania, Slovakia vs. Kosovo
