Tennis: Poland’s Świątek eases into Indian Wells quarterfinals

Poland’s Iga Świątek has cruised into the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells tennis tournament in the United States.

The Polish world No. 2 dispatched Karolína Muchová of the Czech Republic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, in the round of 16 on Wednesday.

Świątek, who won the Indian Wells in 2022 and 2024, will now face another Czech Kateřina Siniaková or Ukrainian Elina Svitolina for a place in the women’s singles semifinals at the tournament in the California desert.

In 2022, Świątek completed the Sunshine Double, winning the Indian Wells and the Miami Open back to back.

The 2026 Indian Wells tournament runs until Sunday.
