Football: Poland assistant coach Jacek Magiera dies at 49
Jacek Magiera, assistant coach of Poland’s national football team, has died at the age of 49, the Polish Football Association (PZPN) said on Friday.

"We received the news of Jacek Magiera’s death with deep sadness and great regret,” the federation said in a statement, offering condolences to his family and loved ones.
Magiera enjoyed a successful playing career, winning two Polish league titles as well as the Polish Cup and Super Cup. He began his career at Raków Częstochowa but was most closely associated with Legia Warsaw.
After retiring as a player, he moved into coaching, managing clubs including Legia Warsaw and Śląsk Wrocław, as well as Poland’s youth national teams.
In the 2016/2017 season, he led Legia to the Polish championship and also contributed to the club’s title-winning campaign the following season.
Since July 2025, Magiera had served as assistant coach of the national team under head coach Jan Urban.
