Świątek—who won the clay-court event in 2022 and 2023—opened her campaign in the second round with a straight-sets victory over Laura Siegemund, but was unable to maintain that momentum against Andreeva.
She was overpowered 3-6 6-4 6-3 by Andreeva in their first meeting on clay.
The result leaves the Pole trailing 1–3 in their head-to-head meetings.
The Russian 18-year-old broke serve in the first game before world number four Świątek fought back with two breaks to clinch the first set.
The Pole fought back from 2-0 down to make it 4-4 in the second set, but Andreeva held her nerve to force a decider.
"I think my baseline game was fine, and I see a progress there comparing to the last tournaments. But for sure, overall, it wasn't enough," Świątek said.
Stuttgart marked a new chapter for Świątek, as it was her first tournament working with Spanish coach Francisco Roig, formerly part of Rafael Nadal’s team, following her recent split with Wim Fissette.
The defeat also extends a stretch of uncharacteristically modest results for the six-time Grand Slam champion. Since the start of the season, Świątek has exited at the quarter-final stage of the Australian Open, as well as tournaments in Doha and Indian Wells, and suffered a surprise second-round loss to compatriot Magda Linette in Miami.
