Poland's Kryscina Cimanouska, Pia Skrzyszowska, Magdalena Stefanowicz, and Ewa Swoboda won bronze in the women's 4x100m relay at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Saturday.
Dina Asher-Smith, Amy Hunt, Success Eduan, and Imani Lansiquot from Great Britain triumphed with the time of 42.05. A photofinish determined second place for Geraldine di Tizio-Frey, Fabienne Hoenke, Leonie Pointet, and Salome Kora from Switzerland - who clocked 43.12, while the Polish team finished in 43.15.
"We showed that this team can do great things. We gave it our all, even though the conditions weren't ideal" - Ewa Swoboda told a reporter after the race. "If anyone didn't believe in us so far, they certainly should now!" - Magdalena Stefanowicz added, emphasizing that the Polish relay team achieved the result they had hoped for.
The Poles' 4x100m bronze was the sixth Polish medal won at the European Championships in Birmingham. Ewa Swoboda will bring home two medals, as she also claimed individual silver in women's 100m. The same goes for Pia Skrzyszowska, who also finished second in the 100m hurdles. Apart from that - Jakub Szymański took third in the 110m hurdles, Katarzyna Zdziebło finished runner-up in the marathon race walk, and Natalia Bukowiecka won silver in women's 400m.
