Tenor Piotr Beczała will appear in the title role, while bass baritone Tomasz Konieczny is cast as Friedrich von Telramund. The dates of the performances are August 7, 11, 14 and 18.

Both Beczała and Konieczny sang in the same production of Lohengrin at Bayreuth last year.

Later this month, on August 25 and 31, Beczała sings the part of Rodolfo in a concert performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Luisa Miller at the Salzburg Festival. His partners include Placido Domingo as Miller.

Rodolfo is among Beczała’s favourite roles. It brought him fine reviews after performances at the Gran Teatre Liceu in Barcelona last month and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 2018.

Poles will also take part in several productions at the Arena di Verona opera festival in Italy this month. Basses Rafał Siwek and Krzysztof Bączyk will sing in Verdi’s Aida and Bączyk in Puccini’s Tosca.
