Agnieszka Holland’s Mr. Jones, Wojciech Smarzowski’s Clergy and Adrian Panek’s Werewolf are among the 46 feature fiction films from 31 countries that have been recommended for a nomination.

Pain and Glow, which is Pedro Almodovar’s latest film starring Antonio Banderas, as well as Yorgos Lanthimos’ Oscar-winning feature The Favourite have also made the list, which the European Film Academy (EFA) announced on Tuesday.

This year, renowned German film director Werner Herzog is set to be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his “outstanding body of work,” the EFA wrote on its website.

In the coming weeks, the academy’s more than 3,000 members will vote for the nominations in the European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter categories.

The nominations will then be announced at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain on 9 November.

The 32nd European Film Awards will be handed out in Berlin on 9 December.
