While Cyberpunk 2077 is set to premiere on November 19, CD Projekt RED, hailed as Europe’s most valuable games company, has said in a statement that the new anime series will be a “a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future.”

The studio behind the new series is one of Japan’s leading anime production companies, Studio Trigger. Trigger is best known for its experimental art styles in productions such as anime series Kill la Kill and Darling in the Franxx, as well as last year’s hit anime film Promare.

The series, entitled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, is set to be released in 2022.

CD Projekt RED is behind the hit video game series The Witcher, based on a book by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
