She won the top honour for her lead in “I Never Cry”, a feature by Polish director Piotr Domalewski.
The film’s main protagonist, portrayed by Stafiej, is an 18-year-old Polish girl who travels to Ireland to collect the body of her father, the victim of a work accident. The film is a Poland-Ireland co-production.
Born in 1999, Stafiej is a graduate of the Film and Theatre School in Łódź. “I Never Cry” was her cinema debut.
At last year’s Polish Film Festival, she received the Best Debut award, and the film also collected prizes for best script (Domalewski) and best soundtrack (Hania Rani).
