Poland hosts World Battlefield Museums Forum

The World War II Museum in Gdańsk, northern Poland, is the venue of a two-day World Battlefield Museums Forum.

The event has brought together experts from 20 institutions from across the world, including the Canadian War Museum, the Narvik War Museum, London’s National Army Museum, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising, the Memorial of Resistance in Vercors, France, the Naval Museum in Peru, and the Darwin Military Museum in Australia.

The papers and discussions focus on the present-day role of battlefield museums, the archaeology, research and preservation of the material remains of military conflicts, battlefields management, as well as commemoration and outreach as the core missions of battlefield museums.

The conference is being held under the auspices of Polish President Andrzej Duda.
