The programme includes the overture to Anton Dvořák’s opera Wanda, A Little Suite by the Polish composer Witold Lutosławski (1913-1994) and the Polish premiere of The Ukrainian Symphony by the Ukrainian composer Mykhailo Kalachevski (1851-1907).

In both concerts, the orchestra will be conducted by Polish conductor Jurek Dybał.

Established in 1993, the Youth Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine was recognized as the best youth orchestra in Europe in 1994.

After the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, it was unable to continue its work in Kharkiv, as the city was seriously affected by military operations.

As a consequence, with the help of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, it found a new home in Poland, first at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre of Music in Lusławice, and subsequently in Lublin, Zakopane, Wrocław, and Szklarska Poręba.

Currently, as part of a programme of the National Institute of Music and Dance in Warsaw, the orchestra is based in Katowice under the auspices of the Katowice City of Gardens Cultural Institution.
