The event began with Paweł Pawlikowski's "Cold War," a critically acclaimed production that received three nominations at the 2019 Oscars, including a nod for its remarkable cinematography. Set against the backdrop of Poland's turbulent 20th-century history, "Cold War" depicts a tale of love and features renowned Polish actors Joanna Kulig, Agata Kulesza, and Tomasz Kot.

Following "Cold War," the weekend program in Rabat included the screening of "Sonata," a heartwarming film directed by Bartosz Blaschke. The story revolves around a 14-year-old boy who discovers that he was mistakenly diagnosed with autism due to hearing loss. Supported by his parents and a hearing implant, he uncovers his extraordinary musical talent.

The third film to hit the screen at the prestigious Rabat cinema, Cinéma Renaissance, was Janusz Majewski's "Black Mercedes." This exciting whodunit, set in 1939 in occupied Warsaw, garnered a nomination for Best Makeup at the 2020 Eagles, a prestigious Polish film award ceremony.

Rabat’s first Polish Film Weekend was organized by the Polish Embassy in Rabat, in collaboration with the Royal Hiba Foundation.
