The weeklong event at Lubliniec-Kokotek in Poland’s southern Silesia region began on Monday and runs until July 9, state news agency PAP reported.
The festival, which is now in its sixth year, aims to provide young Catholics with opportunities to spend quality time with their peers, “have valuable conversations and meet new people,” according to organizers.
Spokesman Szymon Zmarzlicki said the festival includes “prayers, performances by well-known musicians, lectures by interesting speakers and sporting activities.”
The list of performers includes pop singer Daria and the iconic Śląsk Song and Dance Ensemble, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.
There are also 27 workshops on topics ranging from religion to music to martial arts and personal development, the PAP news agency reported.
Last month, thousands of young Catholics from across Poland celebrated their faith at the annual Lednica Youth Meeting in the west of the country.
About 92 percent of Poles declare themselves to be Catholics, according to statistics released by officials last year.
