The programme of the concert included Britten’s Choral Dances from the opera Gloriana, and the Saint Nicolas Cantata. In addition, members of the Sinfonietta Cracovia performed Young Apollo for string orchestra, string quartet and piano.
2023 is the 75th anniversary of the Polish Radio Choir, which is renowned primarily for its strong commitment to contemporary Polish music, with first performances and recordings of numerous sacred works by Krzysztof Penderecki (1933-2020) and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki (1933-2010).
It has also given world premières of compositions by Witold Lutosławski (1913-1994) and Wojciech Kilar (1932-2013), as well as by living composers such as Agata Zubel, Paweł Łukaszewski, and Paweł Mykietyn.
Foreign tours have taken the Polish Radio Choir to many European countries, Canada, South Korea and Israel.
The post of Polish Radio Choir’s artistic director is held by Maria Piotrowska-Bogalecka. (mk/pm)
