Polish composer Marcin Jachim and Oscar Colomina i Bosch from Spain won Second and Third Prizes respectively. The other finalists were Per Dybro Sorensen from Denamrk, Dorothee Eberhardt-Lutz from Germany, and Kornel Thomas, who represented the United States and Hungary.

A total of 94 scores have been submitted to an international jury by composers from across the world.

Founded in 2012, the "Arboretum" Composers’ Competition was held for the fifth time. In earlier editions, the event’s jury was chaired by Krzysztof Penderecki. After his death in 2020, Radom's local government decided to continue his idea of promoting young composers and stimulating the local musical community.

The competition’s name "Arboretum" refers to Penderecki’s passion for trees and bushes. He planted several hundred species of them in an arboretum near his manor in Lusławice, southern Poland.

November 23 marked the 90th anniversary of Penderecki’s birth.
