Warsaw’s cult Iluzjon Cinema is gearing up to host a comprehensive retrospective of Loach, who is one of Europe's most distinguished and socially conscious filmmakers.

The retrospective, curated by film critic Robert Birkholc, will showcase 20 of Loach's highly acclaimed films. The lineup includes his groundbreaking work "Kes," based on the novel "A Kestrel for a Knave," which has long been recognized as an icon of European cinema.

Recalling the influence of Loach's work, Birkholc mentioned the late Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski, a Loach admirer, who once remarked, “I saw Kes at film school and I knew then that I’d willingly make coffee for Ken Loach.”

The event will also feature a diverse range of Loach's films such as "Riff Raff," "Fatherland," "Cathy, Come Home," and the Cannes-winning "The Wind that Shakes the Barley."

In addition to Loach's own films, the retrospective will present a selection of movies that have inspired him over the years. This includes classic works like Vittorio De Sica’s "Bicycle Thieves," Jean-Luc Godard’s "Breathless," and Milos Forman’s "Loves of a Blonde" and "The Firemen’s Ball."
