The Polish team won the Outstanding Achievement in Music Editing accolade in the Documentary category at Sunday’s Motion Pictures Sound Editors ceremony for their work on the sound design of Pianoforte, a highly-acclaimed film by Jakub Piątek.

The hour-and-an-half film offers a backstage look at the 2021 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, focusing on five participants in the event: Leonora Armellini and Michelle Candotti from Italy; Russian-Armenian pianist Eva Gevorgyan; Marcin Wieczorek of Poland; and Hao Rao of China.

The film shows how they deal with rising stress before a performance, how they cope with PR agencies that surround them, and how they spend their free time.

Michał Fójcik was Supervising Music Editor and Joanna Popowicz was Music Editor for Pianoforte.
