Major film studios and streaming platforms are already showing keen interest in the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Studios such as A24, Paramount, Sony, Warner Bros., and Netflix are vying for the rights to this anticipated remake. Discussions with interested parties are still in the early stages, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

Parker Finn is set to write, direct, and produce the film through his production company, Bad Feeling. Robert Pattinson is involved via his production company, Icki Eneo Arlo. It remains uncertain if Pattinson will also star in the film, as the script is still in development.

The original 1981 film "Possession" is set in West Berlin and follows the story of Mark, a spy played by Sam Neill, who returns home to find his wife, Anna (Isabelle Adjani), asking for a divorce, and spiraling into extreme emotional states. The film, a reflection of Żuławski's personal struggles, gained cult status years after its release.
