After Tuesday’s premiere, six more performances are scheduled for June 14, 17, 20, 23, 26 and 29.

Next month, Konieczny will return to the Bayreuth Festival in Germany to sing the role of Wotan in Wagner’s Das Rheingold, Die Walküre and Siegfried.

In November, he will appear at New York’s Metropolitan Opera as Mandryka in Richard Strauss’ Arabella.

Born in 1972, Konieczny graduated from both the State Higher School of Drama and the Music Academy.

After a brief career in theatre and film, he turned to opera, making his debut in 1997 as Figaro in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in the western Polish city of Poznań.
