Regarded as one of the most promising directors of his generation, Ziębiński made his mark with the 1992 film When Reason Sleeps, which earned him a directing debut award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.

The Polish-French production featured notable Polish actors such as Wojciech Pszoniak and Janusz Gajos, and its story unfolds in the late 18th century, exploring themes of mystery and coming of age.

Throughout his career, Ziębiński directed a variety of films and television projects, including the 1997 thriller Wrath, starring Renata Dancewicz and Artur Żmijewski, which tells the story of two brothers separated in childhood who grow up in vastly different environments.

He also worked on films like Dublerzy (2006) and Banksterzy (2020), television theatre productions, and popular series such as Bank nie z tej ziemiŚlad, and Komisarz Mama.

In addition to feature films, Ziębiński created several short films and directed music videos, including one for the song Jaka ja by Kayah.

Born in Gdańsk in 1967, his death marks the loss of a distinctive voice in contemporary Polish cinema.
