The season features 12 performances of The Comedy of Errors on the grounds of the Royal Palace in the city's southern Wilanów district, followed by a 12-performance run of Twelfth Night, which premiered last year.
Both productions are directed by Canadian actor and director John Weisgerber, who lives in Poland.
Weisgerber first encountered the Shakespeare in the Park initiative in Canada in 1983, an experience he says inspired him to bring the concept to Poland.
After settling in Warsaw more than a decade ago, he directed comedies for two Warsaw theatre companies and taught Acting Shakespeare in English at the Warsaw Drama Academy.
"We aim to bring Shakespeare's timeless stories to Polish audiences, in the Polish language, free of charge, so that everyone—friends, families and especially children—can discover that same sense of wonder and connection that first moved me," Weisgerber said in a statement.
Shakespeare under the stars
Separately, Warsaw will host another outdoor Shakespeare event, Shakespeare Under the Stars, which opens in the gardens of the Royal Castle later this week.
The event features a five-week run of A Midsummer Night's Dream, with the first performance scheduled for Saturday.
The production is directed by Czech-Polish director Jakub Krofta and stars a cast of leading Polish actors.
