The concert will open with Concerto for String Orchestra by Grażyna Bacewicz (1909–1969), described in the festival’s programme as a "vibrant orchestral showpiece, whose motoric outer movements contrast with a sublime Andante."
Composed in 1948, the piece is among Bacewicz's early works.
Closing the evening will be Concerto for Orchestra by Witold Lutosławski (1913–1994), a folk-inspired piece written in the 1950s.
The BBC National Orchestra of Wales will perform under the baton of Tadaaki Otaka.
The programme also includes Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, with Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko as the soloist.
