Polish Jazz in Singapore – a conversation with Włodek and Łukasz Pawlik
On September 25, the Pawlik & Pawlik duo performed at the historic Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore – featuring the outstanding jazz pianist, composer, and Grammy Award winner Włodek Pawlik, together with his son, pianist, composer, and music producer Łukasz Pawlik. This concert marked another stage of their shared musical journey – this time to Southeast Asia.

The performance took place in the very hall where, back in 1958, Majulah Singapura – later adopted as Singapore’s national anthem – was heard for the first time. The artists performed ten pieces and then delighted the audience with encores, including their original interpretation of Chopin’s Mazurka. How did they feel performing on such a historic stage? And can the exotic atmosphere of Singapore become a source of new inspiration? Joachim Ciecierski spoke with them in Singapore.
