Tuesday marks the fifth and final day of the opening round, with 17 contestants performing at the Warsaw Philharmonic in morning and afternoon sessions.
Each recital includes an etude, a nocturne, a waltz, and one additional work chosen from Chopin’s ballades, the Barcarolle or the Fantasy in F minor.
Among this year's contestants is Yuanfan Yang, a British pianist who studied at London’s Royal Academy and Royal College of Music as well as Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music.
A laureate of numerous international competitions, he is also a composer with a solo debut album to his credit.
