In two upcoming performances with Płonka in the cast, on October 19 and November 4, she will sing opposite American tenor Gregory Kunde.

The Aida cast also includes Polish bass Krzysztof Bączyk as The King.

Płonka studied piano performance at the Music Academy in Poznań, western Poland, and subsequently at the Oklahoma City University and the University of Utah, before receiving her Artist Diploma in Lyric Studies from the Juilliard School in New York in 2016.

She has since appeared at many major operatic stages, including London's Royal Opera House, Madrid's Teatro Real, Berlin's Deutsche Oper, Zurich's Opernhaus, Washington Opera, and Munich's Bayerische Staatsoper.

Her wide-ranging repertoire includes the title roles in Puccini’s Turandot and Tosca, Abigaille in Verdi’s Nabucco and Venus in Wagner’s Tannhäuser.
