Warsaw Film Festival opens with world premieres and strong Polish line-up

The 41st Warsaw International Film Festival opened on Friday, 10 October 2025, bringing 112 feature films, more than 50 shorts and a dozen documentaries to the Polish capital.

In the main International Competition, 15 premiere titles will compete for the Warsaw Grand Prix, including Our Girls, the latest film by Oscar-winning Dutch director Mike van Diem (Character).

The festival’s opening film is Anniversary , the first English-language and U.S.-made feature by acclaimed Polish filmmaker Jan Komasa (Corpus Christi), starring Diane Lane and Kyle Chandler.

Several other Polish productions and co-productions also feature prominently in the competition line-up, including Home Sweet Home by Wojciech Smarzowski, a past WIFF award-winner, and Brother by Maciej Sobieszczański.

Running through 19 October, the festival remains one of Central Europe’s key showcases for world cinema - a meeting point for emerging talent and established auteurs.
