The actor explained that the family moved to France to shield their children from Hollywood culture and give them a more private, grounded upbringing.

“I was worried about raising our kids in L.A., in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life,” Clooney said.

CBS News reports that the naturalizations were announced in the Journal Officiel, France’s official government journal. Amal Clooney was naturalized under her maiden name, Amal Alamuddin, while the notice also confirmed George Clooney’s full name as George Timothy Clooney.

The family purchased an estate in France in 2021, which Clooney describes as their primary residence, intended to give their children a more private and normal upbringing away from the spotlight.
