Titled Needle’s Eye, the book was released by Archipelago Books, a US-based non-profit publisher, in a translation by Bill Johnston.
Originally published in Poland in 2018 as Ucho igielne, the novel is described by the publisher as "a rich, polyphonic novel from one of the leading voices of contemporary Polish literature, encompassing a half-century of history and memory."
The blurb for the book says that "its narrator, a medieval historian in his latter years, lives surrounded by images of the past."
The publisher adds: "From within this wandering mind, Myśliwski has composed his own ode to lost time, a nonlinear, chameleonic meditation on a half-century of Polish life as it does not appear in the historical record."
Needle’s Eye has been issued in both paperback and e-book formats.
Myśliwski, 93, is the only writer to have twice won the Nike Prize, Poland's most prestigious literary award. His work has been translated into more than a dozen languages.
Archipelago Books has previously published English editions of Myśliwski’s novels Stone Upon Stone and A Treatise on Shelling Beans, also translated by Johnston.
Johnston has translated many books from Polish into English, including works by Stefan Żeromski, Witold Gombrowicz, Magdalena Tulli, Jerzy Pilch, Andrzej Stasiuk and Tadeusz Różewicz.
