Countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński is among the nominees in the Male Singer category for his latest album, If Music..., featuring works by Baroque composers.
The other nominees in the category are German-British baritone Benjamin Appl for his tribute album For Dieter: Hommage à Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Italian baritone André Schuen for his work with Deutsche Grammophon.
Orliński's If Music... has also earned a nomination in the Solo Vocal Recording of the Year category.
The album takes its title from Henry Purcell's song "If Music Be the Food of Love," whose opening line is drawn from William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.
In addition to Purcell, the recording features songs and arias by George Frideric Handel and Johann Joseph Fux.
Orliński recorded the album with his longtime collaborator, pianist Michał Biel.
Polish pianist Krystian Zimerman has also received a nomination. His recording of Johannes Brahms' Piano Quartets Nos. 2 and 3, made with Polish violinist Maria Nowak and violist Katarzyna Budnik-Gałązka, as well as Japanese cellist Yuya Okamoto, is shortlisted in the Chamber Music Recording of the Year category.
The album was released by Deutsche Grammophon, the label with which Zimerman has recorded since the beginning of his international career in the 1970s.
The Opus Klassik awards are presented in 30 categories. This year's nominees were selected from more than 680 submissions.
The winners will be announced at the end of June, with the awards ceremony scheduled to take place in Berlin in October.
