Central Music Square festival launched on June 19 and continues through the first days of July on a giant open-air stage in the centre of the capital, at the foot of the Palace of Culture, neighbouring Teatr Studio theatre which spearheaded the idea. The bill features a selection of productions by Warsaw music institutions - from operetta to musical to full-fledged opera in semi-stage versions, as well as some extraordinary recitals by artists from the supreme international circuit.

Among the highlights was a concert performance of Puccini's "Tosca" with Sonya Yoncheva, Jonathan Tetelman and George Gagnidze in the three main roles, and the Artos Children's Choir, the Choir of the National Philharmonic and the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra conducted by Bassem Akiki.

The scorching heat did not deter the crowds which turned up to watch and listen, in the seated as well as the standee sections.
