Two Polish pianists — laureates of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw — are performing: Piotr Alexewicz at noon and Jakub Kuszlik at 4 p.m. local time.

The programme of the first concert, in addition to Alexewicz's Chopin recital, includes a selection of the composer's songs performed by internationally acclaimed Polish soprano Aleksandra Kurzak.

This year's line-up features leading Polish pianists of the young generation, including Yehuda Prokopowicz, Aleksandra Świgut, Piotr Pawlak and Krzysztof Wierciński, alongside foreign pianists such as Warsaw Chopin Competition laureates Marc Laforêt and Philippe Giusiano from France, Leonora Armellini from Italy, and Martín García García from Spain.

The tradition of Chopin recitals at the foot of the composer's monument in Łazienki Park dates back to 1959.

Two concerts are held every Sunday until the end of September.

This year marks the centenary of the erection of Chopin's bronze statue in Łazienki Park.

Blown up by the German occupying forces in May 1940, it was reconstructed and unveiled in its present shape in 1958.
