The two soloists were among the prizewinners at the 2025 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
Prominent Polish pianist Piotr Paleczny, who has served as the artistic director of the festival since 1993, has told Poland's PAP news agency that this year's lineup also includes Eric Lu of the United States, Canada’s Kevin Chen and China’s Zitong Wang, the winners of the top three prizes at last year's competition in Warsaw.
Other featured pianists include Shiori Kuwahara, David Khrikuli, Yehuda Prokopowicz, Jakub Kuszlik and the brothers Hyo and Kyuk Lee, who will give both solo recitals and perform as a duo.
In addition to 20 concerts and recitals, the festival programme features masterclasses for up-and-coming pianists given by Alexander Gavrylyuk and Alexander Kobrin.
First held in 1946, the International Chopin Piano Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój is the oldest music festival in Poland.
It commemorates Fryderyk Chopin’s visit to the spa town—then called Bad Reinerz—in 1826. The 16-year-old composer gave two charity concerts during his stay, with proceeds donated to an orphaned family.
This year's festival marks the bicentenary of Chopin's visit.
The long list of famous pianists who have performed in the spa includes Vladimir Ashkenazy, Raoul Koczalski, Fou Ts‘ong, Bella Davidovich, Garrick Ohlsson and Krystian Zimerman.
The 81st annual International Chopin Piano Competition in Duszniki-Zdrój runs until August 15.
