The festival armada will travel roughly 160 kilometers along the regional section of the river. It is the largest gathering of traditional riverboats and ships in Poland.
Organizers report that wooden boats and ships from across the country will take part. Visitors will be able to learn about their construction and the techniques used by Vistula shipbuilders centuries ago.
Poland has long‑standing riverboat traditions. During the festival, spectators will see punts, wherries, yawls, skates, pushboats, levees and other traditional vessels.
Events will be held in Włocławek (August 7–8), Nieszawa (August 9), Ciechocinek (August 9), Stajenczynki (August 10), Toruń (August 13–14), Wielka Nieszawka (August 15), Bydgoszcz (August 15), Chełmno (August 16) and Grudziądz (August 16).
The program includes craft stands, outdoor reenactments such as “Customs Chamber” and “Port Guard,” and history lessons. Free cruises on wooden ships and riverboats will be available. A traditional swim across the Vistula, supervised by lifeguards, is planned for August 14 in Toruń.
Daytime and evening parades, exhibitions, photography workshops and meetings with river workers are scheduled. Children and adults will be able to take part in historical activities, including a workshop titled “How to Become a Great Warrior.” Sailing regattas will also be held.
Concerts will take place on beaches and boulevards. Organizers announced performances of traditional rafter songs and contemporary music, including shanties, rock, folk and electronic genres.
The “Vistula Flavors” fair will offer traditional dishes linked to the river’s culinary heritage. This year’s fairs will be held on August 8–9 in Włocławek, August 10 in Ciechocinek, August 14–15 in Toruń, August 16 in Bydgoszcz and August 17 in Grudziądz. A fair of traditional products from Vistula regions is also planned.

The first Vistula Festival took place in 2017, the Year of the Vistula River. The event was inspired by the Loire Festival in Orléans, France.
Polish rafting traditions were added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2023. Organizers say this recognition highlights the heritage that the festival promotes.
The 10th Vistula Festival is organized by the Vistula Tourist Organization.
