According to the gallery’s website, the show is scheduled to run from June 17 to September 13.
The Tate Modern notes on its website that Abakanowicz in the 1960s and ‘70s created radical sculptures from woven fibre that became known as the Abakans.
“They were soft not hard; ambiguous and organic; towering works that hung from the ceiling and pioneered a new form of installation,” according to the tate.org.uk website.
The gallery says the planned exhibition “presents a rare opportunity to explore this extraordinary body of work.”
Abakanowicz was born in 1930. After World War II, she established a career as an international artist and her work is included in many public and private collections around the world.
She died in 2017 at the age of 86.
