The novel, in a translation by Sean Gaspar Bye, has been published by Amazon Crossing. It is also available as an e-book.

The plot of “The King of Warsaw” is set shortly before the outbreak of World War II. Its main protagonist is boxer Jakub Szapiro, who is revered as a hero of the Jewish community in the Polish capital.

In its review of the novel, The Times writes: “In this febrile atmosphere a 17-year-old Jewish boy becomes the unlikely sidekick of a boxer-turned-gangster.”

The Times added that “this extraordinary novel deserves a wide audience.”

Earlier this year, Twardoch’s novel was included in a list of 20 books to be watched for in 2020 compiled by The New York Times.

It won rave reviews from international critics and literary journals, with the Kirkus Review describing it as “a wickedly enthralling novel by one of Poland's emerging literary stars.”

The first edition of Twardoch’s “The King of Warsaw’, published in Poland in 2016, has sold over 100,000 copies.
