Polish actor Krzysztof Kowalewski dies aged 83

One of Poland’s most popular actors Krzysztof Kowalewski died in Warsaw on Saturday, aged 83.

He was best known to Polish Radio fans for his role in a radio play I Love You, Mr. Sułek, but during his career he starred in over 120 films and TV series.

He also played over a thousand roles in Polish Radio’s Theatre.

Kowalewski frequently starred in Polish director Stanisław Bareja’s cult comedies, including A Jungle Book of Regulations (Nie ma róży bez ognia), Teddy Bear (Miś), and Brunet Will Call (Brunet wieczorową porą).

Kowalewski has been awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Gold Medal for Merit to Culture, "Gloria Artis”, and Grand Prize Splendor (Wielki Splendor).
