The audience will hear a cappella works by outstanding Polish and foreign composers, including William Byrd, Karol Szymanowski and Ralph Vaughan Williams, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Led by conductor Irina Bogdanovich, the Warsaw University Academic Choir will feature soloists Marta Czarkowska (soprano), Paweł Kowalewski (tenor), Krzysztof Chalimoniuk (baritone) and Krzysztof Łazicki (bass-baritone), according to organisers.
The Warsaw University Academic Choir is one of Poland’s longest-standing and most acclaimed choral ensembles, and its past members included the legendary tenor Jan Kiepura, officials said.
The group draws on a repertoire that includes a cappella pieces from the Renaissance to the present, classical as well as popular, and large vocal-instrumental works, the PAP news agency reported.

Over the past century, the Warsaw University Academic Choir has performed many major pieces, such as Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s choral masterpiece All-Night Vigil, according to PAP.
The ensemble was established in 1921, but its centenary celebrations have been postponed until now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, officials said.
Thursday’s gala concert will be held under the auspices of Poland’s Ministry of Culture and Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, according to organisers.
The event at the National Philharmonic Hall starts at 7 p.m., the PAP news agency reported.
