In the space intended for building the future headquarters of the institution in the Royal Łazienki Park at 1 Myliwiecka Street in Warsaw, the Opera Picnic with Niepodległa will take place.
During the event, musicians from the Polish Royal Opera will perform acclaimed works from the national repertoire. In addition, they will present famous melodies by composers from other countries, which shape European culture's shared heritage.
The first part of the event will be filled with chamber music – songs with piano accompaniment by masters of vocal and lyrical music: Stanisław Moniuszko, Stanisław Niewiadomski, Jan Gall, Fryderyk Chopin, and Mieczysław Karłowicz, informed the Polish Royal Opera in an official statement.
“The composers have carefully selected texts that will be translated into captivating melodies full of reflection, nostalgia, hope, and joy. In addition to presenting the repertoire in traditional concert form, the artists invite you to actively participate in a family workshop entitled ‘A Walk Among the Sounds’. An old popular song – Przyszła Pani Wiosna, arranged for various instrumental ensembles, will return like a chorus. It will lead the audience through musical history and tradition”.
The second part of the picnic will be a concert by the Soloists and the Orchestra of the Polish Royal Opera, conducted by Maestro Karol Szwech. It will be inaugurated by a ceremonial performance of Mazurek Dąbrowskiego – the Polish National Anthem.
In addition to the concerts, an exhibition of posters from past performances of the Polish Royal Opera will also be featured.
