Organized by Britain’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Poland, the event marked its second edition after a notable hiatus. The inaugural celebration had taken place five years prior.
Daniel Kawczynski, chairman of the group and the only British Member of Parliament born in Poland, underlined the group's substantial presence in the British legislature. With more than 90 members spanning the House of Commons and House of Lords, the group stands as the third largest within the British parliament. Kawczynski also emphasized the unwavering support extended by the United Kingdom and Poland to Ukraine, making them the leading European countries in their backing of the nation.
The group's vice president, MP Nia Griffith acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Polish communities within the United Kingdom. "Our Polish communities here in the UK contribute so much to our society, economically, culturally and socially. It is encouraging to see how many Polish parents value their rich cultural heritage and language and want to give their children the benefits of learning about them," Griffith said.
The array of Polish cuisine featured during the "Taste of Poland Day" was made possible through the participation of Polish store owners in the UK. The event also included an artistic performance by children from one of the Polish Saturday schools.
