Kyiv Symphony Orchestra to perform in Warsaw

The Kyiv Symphony Orchestra is set to perform at Warsaw’s National Philharmonic Hall on Friday, with a concert featuring works by Ukrainian composers.

The programme includes Freaqsuence by Alisa Zaika, a 23-year-old composer currently studying in London, Symphonic Poem by Yevhen Stankovych (born in 1942), and the Fifth Symphony by 19th-century composer Mykhaylo Verbytskyi.

The orchestra, conducted by Vitalii Protasov, will also perform the overture to Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La forza del destino, Béla Bartók’s Four Pieces for Orchestra, Mi-parti by Polish composer Witold Lutosławski, and Mozart’s Second Flute Concerto with Ukraine’s Olha Stukalova as the soloist.

Founded in 1979, the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in Europe, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, and Cité de la musique in Paris.
