Available for viewing from Friday to September 8, the show brings together a selection of works by Władysław Hasior, one of Poland's most innovative and thought-provoking artists of the 20th century.

The exhibition is a highlight of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Castle's reconstruction from the ruins of World War II.

Hasior, known for his peculiar artistic language and avant-garde, yet accessible approach, is celebrated for creating works that reflect on societal themes, human interactions with nature, and the sacred versus the profane.

Hailing from the southern Podhale region, Hasior went on to have a celebrated career as a sculptor, painter and set designer in France and Poland, until his death in 1999.

Art historians recognize Hasior as a precursor of Polish pop art, and a pioneer of provocative happenings and artworks designed to question the status quo.

The exhibition includes various media forms, such as assemblages, banners and sculptures, showcasing Hasior's ability to infuse everyday objects with profound new meanings.

The pieces, borrowed from several Polish museums and private collectors, delve into generational traumas, including those inflicted by wars, and the mechanisms of social oppression.

Hasior’s work not only critiques but also dialogues with viewers, challenging them to reconsider their perspectives on what might be deemed insignificant or temporary.

This exhibition, curated by Jacek Chromy and Katarzyna Rogalska, also references a similar display held 50 years ago within the still-reconstructed castle walls, tying past and present together in a continuous conversation.

The Royal Castle, a significant historical and cultural venue in Warsaw, provides the perfect backdrop for Hasior’s explorative creations. By hosting this exhibition, the castle honors its own storied past and emphasizes its role as a dynamic space where art and history intersect in meaningful ways.

Visitors can explore the exhibition until early September, with tickets available both online and at the venue.
