The teaching program will be reduced by about 20% overall, affecting 18 subjects across different education stages. However, there will be no need to replace textbooks. Greater emphasis will be placed on the use of digital tools. Many changes will concern school reading materials.
Students will have fewer archaic titles to read, with more books that have gained recognition from readers in recent years.
New Reading List After the Summer Break
In primary schools, students will no longer be required to read "In the Diary of Zofia Bobrówna" by Juliusz Słowacki or "The Return of the Father" by Adam Mickiewicz. Besides the iconic "Mr. Kleks' Academy" by Brzechwa, children will now be able to read "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis and "The Hobbit" by Tolkien.
In secondary schools, the reading list will include "Travels with Herodotus" by Kapuściński, "Professor Andrews in Warsaw" (from the collection "Playing on Many Drums") by Nobel Prize Laureate Olga Tokarczuk, as well as "The Place" by Andrzej Stasiuk (from the collection "Galician Tales").
