FOCUS :: Behind the Scenes of the Chopin Piano Competition

Eighty-four pianists from twenty countries are competing in the 19th International Chopin Piano Competition, which started in Warsaw in October 2. In 2015 among those competitors was 16-year-old Tony Yang who won the fifth prize and remains the youngest winner of it to this date. I caught up with him to get a sneak peek behind-the-scenes  of his  journey into the decisive moments of the competition. We discussed intense pressure and anxiety, friendships, picking the instrument, rituals and much, much more!
