Polish cinema is the focus of this year’s event, which will also showcase Polish music and cultural heritage.
One of the highlights will be the international premiere of Chopin, A Sonata in Paris by Polish director Michał Kwieciński on October 15.
The film, known in Poland as Chopin, Chopin!, portrays composer Fryderyk Chopin at the height of his fame in Paris, admired by aristocrats and the king of France, while quietly battling illness and searching for meaning through music and love, according to RTL.
In total, 65 feature films and 50 short films from 20 Central and Eastern European countries—including four international premieres—will be shown during the festival.
CinEast opens on Friday and runs through October 26, offering a programme that spans film, music, photography and cultural events.
It includes concerts, debates, Q&A sessions with filmmakers and a photography exhibition.
Festival director Radek Lipka said the event is aimed at both the local public and the international community.
“We build this festival for everyone,” he said, as quoted by RTL.
Films will be screened at venues across Luxembourg, most subtitled in English, with genres ranging from comedy and drama to animation and documentary.
The lineup also includes screenings for younger audiences.
