The medals, the highest distinction of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, were presented on 19 November by Deputy Minister Sławomir Rogowski during a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the Polish Student Association at Warsaw’s Palladium Theatre.

The awards recognise the lifetime achievements of four prominent creators, including Mleczko, Sawka, Jan Wołek, and Jerzy Moszkowicz.

Mleczko, known for his work in Polityka magazine from 1976 to 2024, has produced over 40,000 drawings spanning satire, poster art, book illustrations, and painting.

Sawka, whose cartoons have appeared in leading Polish publications such as SzpilkiWprost, and Newsweek Polska, also runs a gallery in Szczecin showcasing his work.
