The event, called Central Music Square, takes its name from the capital’s central square, which will host most of the performances.

Highlights include an open-air staging of Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, featuring Metropolitan Opera soloists.

Soprano Sonya Yoncheva will sing the title role, alongside tenor Jonathan Tetelman as Cavaradossi and baritone George Gagnidze as Scarpia.

Poland’s Sinfonia Varsovia will perform under the baton of Polish-Lebanese conductor Bassem Akiki, who is set to make his debut later this month at the Royal Opera House in London in The Turn of the Screw by Benjamin Britten.

Akiki will also conduct the Polish Radio Orchestra in a concert featuring Chinese pianist Lang Lang, who will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5.

Other featured performers include American pianist Kate Liu and Grammy-winning US mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato.

The festival opens on June 28 and runs until July 7.
