'Grand Voices' at Warsaw’s National Opera

Polish bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny and Finnish soprano Camilla Nylund will headline a high-profile concert on Sunday at the National Opera in Warsaw.

The all-Richard Wagner programme features a selection of overtures, arias and duets from The Flying Dutchman, Tristan und Isolde and Die Walküre.

The National Opera Orchestra will be conducted by Robert Jindra, music director of the Prague Opera.

The concert is part of the Grand Voices series launched by Boris Kudlička, who took over this season as general director of the Polish National Opera.

Previous concerts in the series featured Polish soprano Aleksandra Kurzak and French tenor Roberto Alagna, as well as Polish baritone Artur Ruciński and South African soprano Pretty Yende.

The Grand Voices series will end with a recital by Polish tenor Piotr Beczała on May 27.
