Apple has released the first trailer for the film, in which Dorociński plays Alexander Volkov. The trailer presents his character as the principal threat facing the two protagonists.
Reynolds plays Troy "Assassin" Kelly, a US Navy pilot sent on a secret mission into Soviet territory at the height of the Cold War. After his aircraft is shot down, Kelly becomes stranded behind enemy lines.
He encounters Nikolai Ustinov, played by Branagh, a former officer of the Soviet Union’s State Security Committee who is fascinated by American culture.
The unlikely allies attempt to escape the country while Volkov pursues them.
Apple describes Mayday as an action-packed buddy comedy that turns the conventions of the spy thriller on their head.
The cast also includes Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova and veteran American actor David Morse.
The film was written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the team behind Game Night and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
Reynolds is an executive producer through his Maximum Effort company.
Mayday is the latest major international production featuring Dorociński. The 53-year-old actor has appeared in the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit and the final two installments of the Mission: Impossible franchise.
Dorociński will return to Polish screens later in September. He plays merchant Stanisław Wokulski in a new adaptation of The Doll, Bolesław Prus' classic novel about love, wealth and social ambition in 19th-century Warsaw. The film is due to open in Polish theaters on September 30.
