Fat and Dumb, known in Polish as Gruba i Głupia, are billed with their Very trilogy, consisting of Very Funny, Very Sad and Very Cheap, a series of bold tragicomic performances exploring the realities of being freelance artists in modern capitalism.
Formed in 2003 by Patrycja Kowańska (Fat) and Dominika Knapik (Dumb), Fat and Dumb is an independent duo that combines performance, choreography and theatre, creating stage situations in which humor and self-irony serve as tools for critical reflection on reality.
Polish award-winning comedian and actor Piotr Sikora is coming to Edinburgh Fringe with Blizzard, a performance described on the festival's website as "a wordless, absurd, and melodramatic physical comedy/clown show following a lone soldier navigating a snow-covered journey with an orange."
Sikora describes Blizzard as "heroic, absurd, melodramatic and stupidly beautiful."
Sikora's previous show, Furiozo: Man Looking for Trouble, sold out at London's Soho Theatre and was named The Guardian's 10th-best comedy show of 2024.
Another Polish presence in Edinburgh is a music and video show presented by Riventron Factory, a Polish creative project and production group.
Entitled 1896-2026: An Epic of Electronic Music and its Technology, the show explores the evolution of electronic music, from early innovations such as the Telharmonium and theremin through the Moog modular synthesiser and Mellotron to more than 50 virtual instrument sounds.
The show features tracks and virtual and AI interpretations inspired by electronic music icons including Kraftwerk, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, Aphex Twin and Depeche Mode.
The Edinburgh Fringe programme comprises more than 4,000 acts by artists from 70 countries. The event opened on Friday and runs until August 30.
