Duda was expected to meet a slew of international decision makers during the annual event in the Swiss Alpine town.

Around midday he was scheduled to take part in a meeting with business leaders under the motto “Fostering innovation and economic growth” and in a working session on “Generating growth for Central and Eastern Europe.”

The day’s events also include a dinner hosted by Klaus Schwab, a German economist who is the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum.

On Wednesday, the Polish president is expected to address a debate on the economic vitality of Central and Eastern Europe and take part in an informal meeting of world economic leaders focusing on geopolitical risks in an unsettled world.

Duda will also have several bilateral meetings, including with the president of Azerbeijan, Ilham Aliyev; the executive director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol; the secretary general of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Thomas Greminger; the CEO of Ericsson, Börje Ekholm; and a special UN envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen.

On Thursday, President Duda will participate in sessions and meetings entitled Transatlantic alliance: a new architecture for US-EU relations, The future of NATO, and Opportunities and benefits for Central and Eastern Europe and investors.

He will also meet NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

The World Economic Forum takes place every year in late January. This year it will be held for the 50th time from January 21 to 24.

When he was in Davos last year, Duda told reporters that international investors were impressed by Poland’s macroeconomic performance, including its robust GDP growth.
